Some pains are physical, some pains are mental but the one that’s both is Dental Pain.
Dental pain due to infection is sometimes so severe that it becomes unbearable for any person.
The plight of this patient during lockdown wasn’t much different.
He had severe pain due to infection in a tooth. His pain began in first few days of lockdown itself.
When he contacted us, we did tele consultation and prescribed him medicines for the same. His pain used to decrease on taking medicines but then increased along with swelling after few days. He completed 4 cycles of antibitotics but still pain persisted.
Due to the rules of lockdown and unavailability of protective equipment(PPE), we were helpless and could not call him to clinic for the dental treatment.
Happy Smiles Dental Clinic is a NABH accredited clinic. So all sterilization equipment and procedures have been in place since many years. But still few equipment needed to be added as per new regulations.
As soon as protective equipment (PPE) was available we called him in and performed root canal treatment.
The patient sent us this message on the very next day of his first appointment of root canal.
“Good morning Doctor I MUST say a big thanks to you. After about 30-35 days I woke up without pain! And all the credit is to you. I have troubled you a lot during the lockdown period and I appreciate (actually appreciate is a very small word), you called the other day and asked to come for dental treatment yesterday. Whatever you did yesterday is just a magic to remove pain! I must say it is a magic as even heavy antibiotic failed to do it. It used to take a minimum 3 days to supress the pain but you did it in less than 24 hours! Once again thank you for making me smile without pain after more than a month now. Thanks to your staff as well for making me comfortable for the treatment.”
As a memory of this experience he requested to click a photo with the doctor and also sent it to us.
It always feels good when we are able to free someone from pain, that’s what doctors are for and even better when the patient appreciates it. And that’s how doctor-patient relationship should be.
His kind words of appreciation gave us the energy and courage to resume our work during lockdown.
