This 7 year old young patient entered Happy Smiles Dental Clinic, Pune and was looking around the clinic curiously trying to absorb the new surroundings.
Upon sitting on dental chair, he was full of questions regarding the chair, treatment. We got him acquainted with the dental chair.
On checking, we found he had few cavities. Two of his teeth needed root canal treatment while some teeth needed fillings.
We explained him every step of the treatment before performing it.
He was extremely comfortable because he was aware of what is going to happen next. This is a type of Behavior Management used during Pediatric dentistry (child dentistry) called as ‘Tell-Show-Do’.
His curiosity about dental treatment helped him overcome any anxiety that he had about visiting a dental clinic.
He not only cooperated very well during his treatment but also encouraged his younger sister to undergo dental treatment. Since his treatment started he has started brushing twice daily and improved his eating habits.
It is always a pleasure to be able to treat such cooperative kids who start and continue with good dental habits. As a token of appreciation for his behavior we presented him with a ‘Bravery Certificate’.
